An overview of the construction process...
...first, the site is prepared:
...then comes the foundation work:
...then the home arrives and is prepared:
This is what the home looks like when it first arrives on your home site. The construction crew needs to get certain things ready before the crane crew begins lifting the pieces into place on the foundation.
This page shows how the home is set in place on the foundation and then gets sealed up and finished.
The construction and crane crews we use for this process are tried and proven. These folks are experts at what they do and have excellent safety records. Most of this process is beyond the scope and experience of the normal general contractor and you can see why we insist on using the people we do use to put your home together: the foundation and all other groundwork/infrastructure need to be perfect, and the crane operators need to know what they're doing. We much prefer people with lots of experience at this stuff. In the end, we're the ones who warranty your home and their work.
As each piece of the home goes into place, it is set on treated sills and then bolted down to the foundation with 1/2 inch foundation bolts that were already set in the concrete.
...then the sections are lifted and swung into place:
Once everyone is satisfied with the placement of the first piece, the second one is set into the crane slings, picked up, swung into place and also bolted down.
Then the remaining insulation, siding, roofing materials, windows and doors can be installed and the electrical, gas and plumbing feeds and outflows can be connected. But, as you can see from these photos, good crane operators working on a good foundation can have the entire home installed and ready for finishing in one day.
The finish work takes a bit longer, as does the site grading and other dirtwork around the house.
The garage can come the same way as the home but overhanging porches and decks need to be constructed on-site. And before the home can be occupied, everything needs to be tested and inspected and a Certificate of Occupancy issued by the local building inspectors.
...the home is bolted down and the finishing work starts:
...and once everything is "Final Inspected",
your new home is ready for you to move into:
